/ We chose Joe Hart Retiring from football as the main news story because the target audience of this news paper is middle aged working class men with quite a low interlect. And stereotypically this kind of target audience follow football and will know who Joe Hart is because he is a high profile goalkeeper being the ex England no1 and played for manchester city for many years winning trophies. Also this event is quite rare soon as Joe hart is only 31 and is very well known, him retiring will be a shock to everyone.
/ We chose the 0.25 rise of interest rate as one of the main news stories because it affects everyone who has a mortgage or has borrowed money from a bank the will be loosing more money than they would of been before. This is really bad for the middle class males who this news paper is targeted for because they are very likely to be effected by this.
/ Finally we chose the train crash that kills 40 and injures 270 in Sweden because it is a huge accident that has ended in mass destruction and death. Sweden is also quite close to the UK so it would also impact the UK as well. For this many people to die and and to be injured it is a very rare occurrence so will make it very high news coverage.
